on the way to COP30

The outcome of the Fourth UN Financing for Development Conference (FfD4) in Sevilla was not what NGOs and activists hoped for. European governments had the opportunity to change the unfair global economic system, but they blocked progress and defended the status quo. The job was not yet done.

What's next after Sevilla?

The negotiations on a UN Tax Convention are a historic milestone for tax justice. They continue at the UN in New York in early August and in Nairobi in November. This process represents the very first time that all countries are able to participate on an equal footing when global tax rules are decided.

Another key change-making moment will be COP30, starting on 10 November in Belém (Brazil). The stakes couldn't be higher: it's clear that climate action can't be further delayed and we need bold commitments on climate finance. If you plan to be there: get in touch.
